The third wave of the Estudio General de Medios (EGM) has just been published and the results are more than surprising. Overall, the EGM has confirmed that the SER currently has the broadest position among the generalist stations in Spain, having gained 240,000 listeners.
Although it should be noted that the results have not been examined since April (the first wave) due to the second wave being cancelled because of coronavirus, the SER’s results have helped it significantly overtake its number one competitor, COPE. The difference between the two is currently 1 million listeners.
However, the increases in both generalist stations, SER and COPE, have been to the expense of two other stations, Onda Cero and RNE. Onda Cero has lost 7,000 listeners and now has 1,792 million. While RNE has lost 189,000 listeners between the first and the third wave.
